An extension to file is not an extension to pay tax.

Under Nebraska law, an extension of time granted by the IRS for filing a federal return operates automatically as a Nebraska extension for the same period - no separate state application is required. A taxpayer who needs Nebraska time without a federal extension in place files Form 4868N. The Tax Commissioner's extensions generally cannot exceed a total of seven months (longer for taxpayers abroad).
