An extension to file is not an extension to pay tax.

Kansas automatically honors a federal extension for individual income tax - a copy of federal Form 4868 must be enclosed with the Kansas return when it is filed, but no separate Kansas extension application is needed. At least 90% of the tax due must still be paid by the original due date to avoid penalty.

Guidance: Individual Income FAQ (ksrevenue.gov)
