Washington - Excise Tax Extension

No individual or corporate income tax  •  B&O excise tax only

An extension to file is not an extension to pay tax.

Washington has no individual or corporate income tax, so there is no annual return extension in the sense other states use. Businesses instead file periodic excise tax returns (primarily the Business and Occupation, or B&O, tax) through the Combined Excise Tax Return, and extensions of that filing deadline are narrow and discretionary.

AuthorityWash. Admin. Code §458-20-228(13)
Because Washington's B&O tax is a periodic gross-receipts excise, not an annual income tax, it does not follow the "automatic filing extension, payment still due" pattern common elsewhere. There is no equivalent to Form 4868 or Form 7004 in Washington.
