An extension to file is not an extension to pay tax.

Louisiana grants a fully automatic 6-month extension to file the individual income tax return - no paper or electronic request is required. Payment is a separate matter: any tax owed is still due by the original May 15 due date, and interest and delinquent-filing penalties apply to the unpaid balance regardless of the extension.
